But am I right, if I think that adlinks are good for pages with informational content about something and not on pages, where you have regular visitors (forums, portals, ...). Do you know what I want to ask (it s early morning, i am still a little confused )?
I added AdLinks and there are first results. Yes, it works... But in what ratio with other ad units it is, for this I will need more time to test.
I've have gotten quiet good result with those links. The best of all on a homepage where they are almost at the bottom of the site, under the fold strange enough. (the art site). Not all of them click on an ad after that, but a lot do and once I had somebody who obviously click on about six or seven ads (don't remember)! Nice catch I always combine them with regular adblocks as they hardly take up any place, so it's worth a try.
I woudn't change link units for other type of ad. If you test and choose the right format it rocks. My favourite is (120x90_4) and (160x90_4). I think this work better than the horizontal ones like (468x15_4) because it shows "better" keywords. Create a channel or too and test them on the left-top of your website.
Don't know if you were talking to me...But if you're talking about something like this: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html 4. Use horizontal link units Link units offer a wider range of relevant topics for users to browse. A horizontal unit can be placed near the top of your forum just below the header. What I'm saying is that maybe horizontal links is not the best format for a forum. I have better results with (120x90_4) and (160x90_4) formats. but this sizes are more difficult to integrate on a forum.
They do pretty well on one of my websites. I think that the visitors think that it's the navigation menu and I'll get three clicks from one person.
@ OP- was a bit too obvious, isn't it Anyway I think ad links will only perform well when they are placed well and are highly relevant. One advantage with them is that when a user decides to click on them, than more often than not, he will click on 2 or 3 or 4 ads.
Tawn, If i were you , i'd insert a nice little leaderboard link unit right under your graphic, blending it to look like your LHS nav menu. In general, I find that ad uunits preform really well, even when in some crappy spot. If you have a long article, throw one (leadeboard style) at the bottom. once the reader has read, it gives them another exit choice rather than the "close browser" X at the top of thier screen
