link unit v. ad block

I currently have one link unit on my homepage containing four ad links. And a google block inside each post.
I like the idea of having one ad show up in the block inside each post as this will be the highest paying ad that can be served to my site.

    My question is,
due to there being multiple ads inside my link unit, will they pay less than just having one ad show as is the case in my posts?
    Thanks.

On the rare occassion that they're clicked, my link units have usually been high paying with no low payouts, but also not the highest payout. The ad units seem to have a large range, going from a penny to the highest paying.

Your results will vary depending upon what your advertisers are willing to pay in your niche market.

Funny. My experience is the opposite. More clicks on link units but low earnings; less clicks on ad units but high revenue.

I cant say that my link clicks are paying very much at all. Last click was pretty feable. Let me say this, you would get more for recycling a soft drink can then I got for that click. lol.

Well thats one less soft drink can I have to trade in right ;)

I followed one idea I got from google blog on adsense and got good result.
The area where you get maximum clicks should be the first ad to load on the page. Or should be higher in your page. After that I removed my top ads to give way to my in line body ads. I got good result this way.

Now I have removed multiple ads in a pages and using one inline ad and one text link ad. I don't see great drop in my earning but I am yet to conclude that we should use only one ad type per page. But definitely it has improved my users experience as before vistitors were thinking pages are developed for ads only.

I prefer ad units only because they work best for me.

In a new post on the Google Adsense Blog, one tip that is mentioned is:
Has anyone experimented with using only image ads? Do they in fact "improve monetization"? I need to try something new, as my link clicks pay next to nothing.
