I really miss this feature, is there any chance that it will be implemented again?

Well, since you can put links in the signature anyway, why should it be a problem? I actually read lots of useful blogposts thanks to this feature.

Ya, but for whatever reason they were just more spammy... Not to mention the resources needed to download 50,000 RSS feeds every hour.

I can imagine that it was pretty resource intensive, but in the new DP version you just switched it for tweets in profiles, which are not really useful to anyone (why would anyone read them here if people can just follow accounts on Twitter?).

You are probably using the same technology to load the timeline (where are more new items per hour in comparison with blogs), so I think that this is even worse than displaying links to latest blog posts (the system doesn't have to necessarily check every hour).

Screw tweets, give us links to blog posts back, please. :)

Nah, the tweets all come from a known good source (the Twitter API). The problem with the RSS feeds is you are relying on people's servers to be up, have a valid RSS, deal with slow servers, etc... Just don't see it coming back (sorry).

Okay, one last attempt to convince you: What if only Feedburner URLs were allowed? Feedburner is fast (and their RSS output is always valid).

No sorry... The whole spam issue was a pretty big issue too. :)
