If I would put a link of google.com on my website.Would that make my site better(in the eyes of google) or better spidered by google?

If linking to Google to not relevant to your content at all there is a chance it may even hurt your rankings.

I do have to disagree on this one. I think it will carry some weight if you do link to good resources like Google suggests. So what better resources to link to than Google, Yahoo, MSN, WIKI

It must carry some weight but not to rank you better. I'm sure google like the fact that there company gets free advertistment.

It shouldn't really do anything. It would be a better idea if you work on getting more backlinks.

This used to be one of the things suggested by SEO "experts". I don't think it matters much anymore.

Why send your precious PR juice back to Google?

Well it would suggest you trust in Google, I suppose! :)
Would they give you brownie points, maybe not.
I think I have enough Google Links in my domain as it is with all those advertisements that say "ads by google" :)

It will not help you in ranking or even more spider visits, and it's after all an outgoing link from your website to another website even if it google it self.

so it for sure will reduce your pagerank and it might harm as any regular outgoing link, so i advise you not to link to google.

There are many opinion here for and against it. Link to it and if it does not work remove it.
