    Link sale / partnership -- what's the difference ?

OK so we all know that Google gives penalties to people that sell or buy links but what about partnership links. If you look at some websites that are even ~PR8 and they all have partnership/ advertise packages that lest you put your link on their website.

So what am i missing ? What is the difference from advertise, partnership or link sales ?

In partnership you can add nofolow attibute without further hesitation, but in selling links the buyer won't be happy if you add nofollow tag. That's the main different I guess

Partnership links is normally a reciprocal links, which is a cross link between sites whereas buy links means you get a one way link as you pay for it.

I have some partners on my websites and i dont believe that they would be happy if i made their link nofollow nor i would be if they did that. Partnership is not only about traffic, its about buildings links too.

No reciprocal required. I know so many businesses even with PR8 and up that asking money for links (but they call it advertising/ partnership) so i want to know what is the difference ? And how can Google prove that the link was sold and its not partnership ??????

I was at Webmaster World in Vegas and got to see Matt Cutts speak. There isn't a difference between link exchanges and sponsorship/partnerships. Most of the time the link is one way. Business A wants to show they are good a what they do by linking to a supplier or end customer. Buying a link is the same, you are paying for a webmasters time and effort. The problem is google doesn't make any money in this senerio and the player with the most money wins (not the best outcome for search engines trying to provide the most relevant content)

These types of links will die out after a while just like the recripocal links died out a couple years ago.

Some webmasters are using word like links, resources, partners... these are reciprocal link exchanging, advertise packages means these are buying links.

They are all links (dofollowed), which will pass PR juice to your website afterall ;)
So don't bother with the names and try to get the most out of them as you still can.

I only disagree with you about one point:
The truth is: Google won't hurt your website rnaking if you are buying links, only the links seller might be affected.
