I've sat and read many times about obtaining a link from site x, and links from site y, which may be totally unrelated to the niches that many people occupy. I've written an article that I hope will help some people who are seeking information about building links, particularly those who are new to SEO and link building. http://www.barrywheeler.ca/2009/01/10/link-reputation-ask-yourself-is-the-link-worth-it/ I'm not an expert, but I have given this quite a lot of thought, as well as read what many other SEOs with much more experience have in this area.
U make good article regarding l9ink building, if its done by yourself sure u r well experienced on SEO
Well, I wrote the article but I'm not an expert in this area. I've just started about 8 or 9 months ago learning about this and experimenting. There's a wealth of information around the net on this and other topics.
Yes I have to agree with Rena! its a very well written article The key thing to remember now with all engines, especially Google is that your link strategy is paramount to them displaying your page on the serps in response to the intial search query. The key is to ensure that all of your link partners are themed, relevant & related to what your anchor text is as well as the content displayed on the page the searcher hits. At the end of the day as much as I hate the monopoly Google have created they are only trying to display the most themed and relevant search results to their customers. By adhering to their criteria & ensuring your link strategy is themed & relevant you cant really go wrong
Thanks for the great comments. I have seen how link reputation can have a major impact on overall ranking. A friend of mine had a website, and has been dabbling with his own link building. He linked to a site that had requested a link .. seemed to be OK at the time. Never checked the site out before linking to it, and apparently the site has since been banned from the Google index. Guess what happened to his site .... dropped in the search engine indexes big time ... interesting.
