I own a free directory and I have been receiving requests to remove links from my site after the penguin update. I usually remove those links same day and reply to confirm the removal. But this one email annoyed me a little bit and I have decided not to remove their links from the site. How would you respond to such email? What legal action can he take if I choose not to remove his links? How do you respond to such emails? I feel this is really awkward that I let him put his links for free in my site and now he sends me threats if I don't remove them. I feel really bad about all this.
All the guys that started link directories years ago,, when links were a good thing. Can now charge 5 bucks a pop for removing them,,,
I think there is nothing wrong with sending him a payment request, and you have every write to edit your directory as you see fit. It would be an unlikely scenario a judge would award him with a court order. You can link to any site you please, exceptions being illegal content possibly.
He sounds like a 15 yo and i guess, he thinks you're about his age To be sued by a webmaster just for linking to his site is non-sense. Really, if this would be possible, everyone with a website can become instantly a billionaire. Anyway, i wouldn't keep on advertising his business in my directory, so i would remove his link.
