To run a backlink check on Google and/or Yahoo whats the difference when you put a space after the colon? link:www.mysite.com (6 results) link: www.mysite.com (576 results) what is this telling me? Why the huge difference? With the link: [space] are those just pages where my domain name lies?
The first one is looking for link:yoursite and the other one is looking for links to yoursite (I think)
The first one is showing a sample of websites linking towards your website, while the second is just searching for your domain name (or even just keywords in your domain name.. see below) and the keyword "link:" (or even "link"). I said keywords in your domain name. Let's assume you're searching for "link: www.article-directory.com" (the link doesn't have to be real and it's just an example) the keywords that google will search for are: "link", "article" and "directory".
Yeah, the 2 search term will show different results. the first one (the one w/o space) will show your backlinks is a particular SE.
first one will show the backlinks. second one will show all the sites that have your domain name in it, whether linked to your site or not
both are different. but you want to find exactly how much link to your website then you must have to use link:www.xyz.com
The First one w/ no space is the right command for checking links of your site. It can be use in the big G and yahoo site explorer. The big G doesn't show all your links, but Yahoo does!
