Hi guys. I have new site, only been indexed on google for 7 days and no page ranking as yet. Its only really early days of course, so i cant expect much. I stumbled onto a directory in my field, they show google page ranking 8 on my toolbar. I was actually able to provide them with a small service they needed and in exchange, they gave me two links on their pages, at no cost. Im excited about this as i have bought a few links in directories to build up, im avoiding link farms etc. Will this link help much? Will it get me ranked higher and will it get me crawled more often by the spiders? Im hoping so, but would love any comments so i know others opinions. Cheers.
An inbound PR8 link, naturally obtained, definitely is a sweet treat for your new site -- nicely done Assuming the linking site has a good reputation, the link should help draw attention to your site and improve its perceived credibility. As a check on a current scam, please be sure that they have not deployed the "nofollow" meta tag on your link. Aside from any traffic you receive, the tag will 100% negate the impact of the link to your site.
A PR8 link is close to being perfect, well done! As long as the link is legit, that's fantastic. Make sure the site isn't using the nofollow property on your link. Keep up the great work, by the way. If you keep that up with respected sites, in no time you'll have a great PR of your own, if the update ever comes, that is.
You'd be all set if google toolbar PR actually resulted in SERP. Good luck with that though. I always have to cheer for people that use SEO tactics from 1997.
It should work a lot if it is one way and the directory is close in content with your web site. You do have to wait a little though till the update is done and keep working on your site. You can not just wait to see the impact of one link. You do need more links. If you keep it up and build constantly you will end up with a good PR pretty soon.
