Link Physical Page Location

    Someone once told me that links in certain parts of a page are not seen by google eg the outside columns. Is this true?

    The links will be seen by Google as long as they appear in the HTML <a> source. However, Google may choose to allocate lesser relevancy to links in the footer or other parts of the page.. I have did not come across any official release on this matter yet..

    yea, they see everything that's an achor or "a" link. If you don't want them to see certain links, just make them javascript.

    Thanks - Is it possible to see if a link is in java on some else's site by right clicking and viewing source?

    Yes, its possible. You can also use the following spider emulator to see if the bots can see the anchor links:
