Link on PR8 page - with attributes ( /?t=34321) - how does Google treat it?

    Hi there,

I've been offered a PR8 EDU link and took the offer.

The service provider sent over a message they posted in
a famous university's forum. The page is indeed a PR8.

My concern is - that the page is a general message page
on a forum, so basically no matter what forum topic you
select, the PR will be 8.

For example, with DP - both of these URLs would have the
    same PR: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1376805
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1376801

Yet, I'm having a hard time believing if I open a new thread and
link to my site, from a site whose message page is a PR8, that it
would be considered a PR8 link for Google.

In other words, a static PR8 page with 2 links, one of them being
my own - is unbelievably valuable. Is the same true of a forum
message containing just one or two links? On one hand, it DOES
have a PR8... on the other hand, there are thousands of pages
"sharing" that same PR 8, if you just change the attributes (e.g.
    ?t=different_number)

I think I've been duped... any thoughts?

    Sincerely,

    Adi Friedman

Any thoughts? Need to know what the SEO effect of such a link is, to see if I was duped or not (as well as use it - assuming it's legit, though I don't think so).

    Sincerely,

    Adi.

Well if Google Toolbar is telling you it's PR8 then I'm sure that's what they are going to count it as. The link should be crawled within a few weeks, check webmaster tools and find the link. See what they rate it as.

Could someone enlighten me? What is the difference between posting a post in the forum with your link in the signature and being offered a link by them (i assume you would have to pay money for it?). Wont google just recognize it that you have a link in that forum?
