Link on every blog post

I just got a offer from a PR 5 website (same topic site as mine) HIs offer

- A 468 x 60 image ad on every blog post. He has some a lot of posts on his blog.
- 125$ a month

My questions

1) Is it worth paying 125$ a month? Traffic to the site is around 5k unique visitors a day.
2) Will it increase my ranking (PR)? Or could it go negative? Maybe as duplicate backlinks?
3) Suppose i advertise only for month or 2.. will i be benefited in the future?

It probably will not have any effect on your PR or backlinks... a banner is an image and search engines are looking for text. It may bring some traffic to your site but I don't see banners helping you out in the search engines too much if at all.

A image banner ad with a link wont help? Are search engines looking for pure text links only?

 

It may help a little bit as there will be a link to your site, but you will have no anchor text, and any text or advertising in the image itself will not be read by the search engines.

If my link is in my signature, will each reply or thread I post count as a different link?

If my anchor text is Kimbo Slice Videos, will people searching for kimbo or kimbo slice see my site?

It may get you traffic but not backlink quality from Google. If the blogs articles are related to your banner then you may get clickthroughs but it is more important to know the amount of traffic you can expect for your 125 bucks

 

it looks a good offer but how many outgoing links are there on that web site?

 

alt tags are not given as much importance ... considering so many people even put in alt tags like "seo company search engine optimisation link building " and what not on spacer images.
will it increase your PR ? not much chance if thats public relations as for google page rank , even lesser chance IMO ... and in any case its for 1 month ... even if it increases google will check back later on surely .
the only good point is , since his site is of simmilar content as yours , you might gain a part of the traffic he is bringing in , writing all those blog posts ... if he is .
