I've just discovered I have a link to one of my sites on a page with PR8. But my link is nofollow. Will this link get any benefit or is it a waste of time being on this PR8 page because of the nofollow?
If you are getting traffic from the link then it will be beneficial, otherwise it won't help your PR out any.
Nofollow don't pass juice, but if you get traffic from it is good. I have many links like those from wikipedia. They give me traffic.
It won't help your search engine rankings, but the traffic you get should convert well...and probably generate more natural links to your site. I'd be sending a gift basket to the PR8 nofollow webmaster.
My humble opinion is that even nofollow links on a related site is beneficial for ranking. I don't really care about pagerank, I care about the ranking of my site on the search engines. And, my opinion, is that if Google, for example, finds a nofollow link to your site on a related PR8 page, it will definitively boost your ranking.
A link is a link! with or without juice. If u cant get the the PR at least there is traffic! isn't better than nothing?
Nofollow should no pass any link juice in theory, but ... I'm still not 100% sure especially if link is on a highly rated website.
I really doubt that, even if it's the official version. We should do an experience: - creating a page optimized for a random keyword - letting Google index the page - checking where in the SERP our page rank for that keyword - adding a nofollow link pointing to our page, using the keyword as the anchor text, on a PR8 or PR9 page - checking where in the SERP our page ranks for that keyword 1-2 days after My bet is that our ranking will improve because of the link.
I don't buy the "no follow" stuff. Google can follow whatever they want. In fact, I've seen bounces from no follow links. It's part of a balanced approach.
That Link won't help you in PR at all. So, a better advice is to find do follow. If then link is to get traffic, then it is okay.
Benefits of a (no follow) link on a High PR site 1/ potential visitors 2/"do follow", aggregation sites, may pick the page up ( with your link displayed) 3/ potentially visible backlinks particularly in Yahoo Inlinks ( yahoo may display links whether "do follow" or "no follow") Backlinks are a form of webmaster currency ( blog post), traded in several forms, daily
