The best link popularity software is Link Management Assistant (LMA)
from Duncan Carver. For a comprehensive linking strategy it can't
    be beat.

It's FREE and offers features paid alternatives don't have. There is
a very supportive forum for technical issues.

I have never used Reciprocal Link Manager, but
from the description of features it seems to be
    a good choice.

Both LMA and RLM have extensive features, so you
have to go to each site to do a comparison.

    http://www.onlinemarketingtoday.com/software/link-management/

    http://reciprocalmanager.com/

Here are some features each has that the other
    doesn't:

    LMA:

    Cost:Free

DMOZ directory import feature:You can import to
your directory an entire category or sub-category
from DMOZ (Open Directory - the most important
    directory on the Internet)

Import an entire dataset into your directory:Use any
flat file (text) database. This allows you to easily
convert your existing website directory over to one
    powered by LMA.

Google Page Rank Option:You can display the
Google PR of all directory listings if you choose.

Popular categories option:You can select which
listings display at random under the "popular
    categories" section.

Popular keywords option:You can select which keywords
will display at random under the "popular keywords"
    section.

    Dynamically generated directory listings

The support forum for LMA is currently having
some technical difficulties, but this has nothing
to do with the LMA script itself.

As an example of a linking directory established
with LMA here is a Work At Home Website Directory
    I recently started:

    http://100FreeWorkAtHomeTools.com/lma/directory

    *********

    RLM

    Cost:$147

    Static HTML directory listings

Alexa Traffic Rankings:Displays the Alexa rating
    of directory listings

Search for links section:Automated search for new
    compatible link parners

Manage sister sites:link all of your own link directories
together... so when a user submits their link to one of
your directories, they can optionally choose to submit
their link to any of your other directories at the same
    time.

Link partners can modify their links:through their personal
link editing URL link partners can modify their listings

Other leading link popularity software products are:

    Arelis4
    http://www.axandra.com/

    Zeus
    http://www.cyber-robotics.com/

Choose whichever best fulfills your needs.

    Best of success,

    Robert

If you want to download Link Management Assistant (LMA), go to http://www.onlinemarketingtoday.com/software/link-management/download.htm

They require you to submit your email address to get the URL for the download. Since they send their emails from a dynamic IP and since their mails are full of ads it has been eaten by my spam filter several times until I noticed what's wrong.

Just be a little wary of LMA. There is code in the admin portion of the software that hits his site periodically and runs an update statement against your database inserting his links into your footers. This is a bit scary for me, as he could just as easy wipe out all your tables. This is "encrypted" in the code, so it's hard to spot without digging around. I'm not comfortable giving up that kind of access to my data.

I dare to recommend LinkAssistant (http://www.link-assistant.com) :) I like it - it can find potential link partners as well as find partners' Google PR and Google/Yahoo/MSN popularity, send emails to all of them, generate links pages and many other things. And it really easy-to-use! Well, as I told before, I vote for LinkAssistant! :D

That's definitely more than a little scary for me. Thanks for pointing that out, I was considering this software but I'll definitely pass now.
