I've been getting about 10 link requests every day, and have fallen badly behind with updating my link pages since I have to do it manually. I was looking at link manager, but at $20 / domain / month - it's a bit much for somthing I can do myself, so I've been looking for a script that I can use on all my sites for one price. I found barracuda and it looks great (AND FREE), but it seems a bit unstable. Has anyone used this script before? Any other free scripts that work well?? thanks
You can check out this linkman102 php script at: http://www.phpjunkyard.com/php-link-manager.php This is a free script and you can download the code too. There is also a sample you can see from this page as well. Hope this helps!
Thanks gaja, I had downloaded that script, what I didn't like is that the links are added, and if you don't like them you can remove them. I want to approve them before they are displayed. The script is working now, except for a few features that I'd like to remove anyway - just have to wade through the code to do it. You can see it at http://www.untangledweb.co.za/directory It's not live yet (haven't linked to it from the home page yet) because I want to make sure it's working perfectly first.
You are welcome guys. I also used this script as reference and modified it to fit my needs. The code is pretty clean and easy to understand. I thought there is a feature that checks the links already, or do you want to approve the site by going over the site contents before you add the link?
I want to approve links before they are displayed. Keep it relevant to the users. I also like barracuda because it shows page rank.
It seems to be working nicely now. Needs a bit of fine tuning and quite a steep learning curve, but I think I'll stick with it. It measures google page rank, records clicks and has a link popularity based on clicks - you get to set how many clicks a link needs to get whatever level of popularity. It also has a section for adding google ads and sponsored links. I'm slowly figuring out how to customise it, so that it doesn't look like all the others. The main downside is the lack of support and documentation available. The support people on their forum haven't answered a question in over a week. But in general it's pretty good .
