Thats were the BS and myth come into it.

True that links do "leak" PR to other pages - in that the PR passed on is less than the PR of the page the links is on. This is true and not BS or a myth.

PR dose not "leak" or reduces the PR of the page the links are on - this is the BS and a myth.

Don't think of the web as made up of websites, but think of it as made up of web pages.

Say you have a PR4 page.
You put 50 links on it.

Linking out from the page does not weaken the page itself.

Say a PR4 page had 500 'points' to vote with.

The idea behind PR leak is the 500 points would be divided amongst the 50 links on the page... so if all 50 links are to pages that don't belong to you, you are using the voting strength available to you to vote for other people's pages... leaking away your voting power.

You could vote for pages which you own instead.

Anyway, never mind PR leak untill your PR is at least 5 or 6.

Just don't put all your outbound links on your homepage.

Correct me if I am wrong but this only affects PR.
It doesnt have any effect on your site's link popularity or the SERPs.

So if someone links to you with good anchor text from a page with 100 links on it it will only affect the amount of PR that page will give you. The anchor text for your link though is still there and still important...

Now this is intereresting. What I'm wondering is, if you have a PR4 page with 50 links on it, and those 50 sites don't have such great PR, but your PR helps them in the rankings thus boosting their PR, doesn't that help you if they are linked back to you as well?

I have seen few times that, an ecommerce site page which has many product titles with URL for product details page is liked by Google. Eventhough that page has 100 outbound links. So may be, link...description.....link .... description pattern is liked by google.

I have been searching for a place to ask this question without starting a new thread...

I have a PR 6 homepage and I would like to add maybe 30 outbound links to it... How much harm would that do to my PR, would it go down to 5?

As it was said before, it's a myth. Pure BS! "link leakage" does not exist.

You will not find people who agree on this, but from most of what I have been able to tell the answer is no, you don't lose PR because you are linking to other sites, rather PR is more 'passed along'

I interpret this to mean... the more links on a given page the less PR that will transfer from that page "to each of the target pages".

Or, the amount of PR that transfers "from" a page to a given link will be determined by how many other links are on that page.
