this is probably pathetic, but I hear people talking about link key words all the time and I don't know what that means. Does that mean the title of the link? Or does that mean the words inside the anchor? Or something totally different? Anyways my website is www.yahn.org if anyone wants to tell me if I have good link key words. Thanks for your time.
never hurts to ask <a href="http://www.yahn.org">PUT YOUR KEYWORDS HERE</a> most often referred to as > anchor text / keywords good luck with your site.
ok. So it was what I thought it was then. Well I don't see how I'm going to keep the links short and have good key words for them at teh same time. oo well, I'll just have to work on that later. Thanks for your help.
Check out the keywords tool on this forum and look up the keyword, keywords you think are what you need. It will return results showing what people are really searching. This can be a good start for determining what you need. IMHO. Keep in mind that one page (even your homepage) is not the only one to promote. Promote differing phrases across each site page via the on-page content (ex: title tag, meta tags, header tags, bold, etc.) as well as the link text of your IBLs.
As said, your main page (the one you want to link to) should target one or two keywords. The anchor text should just refer to these keywords (merged in a coherent sentence) If you're main keywords topic is : near death experience stories, and your content is related, you're link will be "Near Death Experience stories site"
