If I were to create a link graphic, with anchor text of course, to send out to prospective link partners to put on their pages, would this not be as effective if the graphic included links to multiple pages within my site, instead of just one link. Each link would have anchor text optimized for that particular page. Would this dilute the effectiveness of the links?
One link per graphic. And yes, you could use different links with the same graphic as long as you do not put more than one link per graphic. Nothing however, substitutes for a straight text link in body context. D
Thanks for your response. Very helpful. I'm just curious; what would be the drawback for putting more than one link per graphic. Thanks Again, Noah
In theory it's a good idea - but I really don't see all that many link partners wanting to use graphics. Although my personal experience of link exchanges is limited, the overall impression is that most people wanted text links, and that graphical links were invasive to their respective site links pages.
Google will think you are spamming the Alt text. And you will get a filter Penalty. Stuffing alt with multiple links and KWD's is what G is after right now. D
Thanks Brian. Sorry for posting my questions in both blogs again. Which blog do you prefer, so I know for the future. I realize text links are better in pretty much everyway. Its just that i work for a company who's potentual link partners actually want graphics - they don't know anything about SEO. I was given the assignment to make these graphics, against my will. So thats just want to have to do for now. Would you by chance know the reason why putting multiple links on a single graphic wouldn't be as beneficial as just posting one link per graphic? Thanks, Noah
Forgive me, I'm a bit new to this game. I thought the Alt text was what came up when you hold your mouse pointer over an image. Why would Google think I would be spamming the Alt text if I place multiple text links on one graphic that may or may not have any Alt text. I'm sorry to keep bugging you, I just have to be able to explain why this would be a bad idea to someone else who thinks its a good idea. It seems like a shaddy tactic to me, which is why I need to find out exactly what the reason is, so I can explain that. A perfect example of the type of graphic link I'm talking about is about half way down on this site http://www.nextdaypets.com/linktous.aspx You see how they make their graphic have multiple links to different pages within their website. They send that off to people to place on thier website. Thanks so much, Noah
