    Hi guys,

These days i am getting a lot of offer for link exchanges where the other party is offering dropped domains with good PR (4/5/6)

Will such backlinks do any good to my site?

Need your feedbacks on this one.

    Thanks,
    Sam

From what I've heard the PR will stay with the domain as long as the links are kept in tact. Just look at the site and see if it is being updated and if it gives a relevant link back to you.

I have seen that these domains (mostly blogs) are not updated at all and that is the reason i feel that G would surely take down the PR as soon as the next update happens.

Am i thinking right? Is a link coming from a dropped domain any good at all?

If the sites are not kept up to date then it depends on the google update. The site will still have links going to it and it someone was maintaining the site I would definately accept a link.

Just the same as I wouldn't accept a link from a PR4 not dropped domain that hadn't been updated in a long time. The question would then be how has it kept its PR and is the PR fake?

It all depends on the site, links going to that site and traffic. If all those are there I can't see there been much of an issue.

That depends on the past history of particular domain name, just think why people dropped it or not wanting to renew, the reason could be many and more likely it might have been banned in worse case. The decision is yours.

You can check a few of these things out though, fake PR, possible bans etc.

there could be lot of issues with dropped domain links. the domain could have been a domain for a non-profit organization which was then converted to a health site or blog for example. therefore all the backlinks that dropped domains have are not relevant anymore. besides, lot of backlinks to the dropped domain dont end up lasting for long for which PR of those sites get dropped over time. i myself would not suggest buying any links from dropped domains

In many cases the PR of the dropped domains will be lost. Not worth it in my opinion, but then again I'm not a big fan of link exchanges either....

remember PR changes on a daily basis its only the toolbar update that is every few months.

Just do a quick link check. If its a PR 4 then there needs to be some PR 5+ links still live for it to pass on PR 4 juice. If these PR 5+ links have been taken away then the site is no longer PR 4 even though the toolbar may say it is.

Or at least thats my theory.

    hi sarah,,,,,,,

First of all don't go for the damn link exchange. If ur really in need of link exchange then at the most 2-5 for blogs and for high competitive sites at the most chose ur relevant category based links at the most 5-10. But i certainly don't love link exchanges. Instead u should get links pointing to ur site automatically.

    Best ways:
    1) Create quality content with keyword niche subject and target heavy traffic keywords for ur blog/site.
    2) Put images optimized related to ur subject
    3) Post to Niche articles, press releases, google, yahoo msn groups, social networking, social media, news, forums where u can get many backlinks.
    4) Do keep track of every backlinks as u would be getting many from quality based sites. Also make ur content much appealing that users would love to bookmark ur blog or site which in turn results into more traffic and PR would increase automatically on popularity.
    5) Live examples : amazon, google.com they don't need any link exchange y? or say britney, arnold etc,,, they don't need as they are brands and have become popular.

The simple fact is : If people love ur blog/site they would certainly give u a backlink so that's the catch and don't go for the link exchange ignore the exchanges. Make ur site worth appealing for ur targeted visitors.
U shouldn't go after visitors let visitors run behind u :)

    Thanx
    Google lover
