After the success of http://www.milliondollarhomepage. com/ does this constitute a link farm? I do not think that there will ever be such a great marketing success as this but I have an idea based along similar lines but a little more sophisticated. What I dont want to do is waste a whole load of time on this project if the end result is going to be considered a link farm and not receive any clients. Thanks
Yes, I take your point about it being similar to a link farm in that it's just a page of random links. One important difference though is that people are (or were) making lots of searches in google for "the million dollar hompage", and the site was gaining tons of natural links, like the one you've posted. A link farm by comparison would be a list of links put up in a relative vacuum. I think the bubble's burst on pixel advertising though; you'd need some new twist to create a similar buzz in my view. Cheers, Paz.
Thanks Paz I agree, I think the bubble has burst on pixel advertising. I am looking at something a little different. Hopefully with that "twist" you mention. If I do manage to get the site sorted out then I will make sure that it hits here first with something special for all forum members. Considering the importance of backlinks having a link on a topic related site has got to be a good thing. Hasnt it?
There has been a lot of these sites popping up. There is a site thepixelwars.com that has a huge directory and even a lot of free ones. No links for me yet? That's interesting that someone with one post put a link in its own topic. Ah well I guess you are trying to prevent spam.
A link farm won't harm you as long as you don't link to them. There is no way for you to stop other links to you, so SE won't hit you because of that
