    I have heard about link exchange but never tried before. I want to know how important it is for site and how does it work?

    You might want to avoid link exchanges completely. Search engines can easily detect such exchanges and do not give much weight to them.

    nothing is dangerous, and search engines do not care if you exchange links.
    Exchanging links will continue to be one good way to have back links and increase link popularity.
    however

    it is better to reach a minimum of PR2 then start your link exchange campaign, with also at least PR2 websites.
    linkmetro is a great service for that, and you can find some of the masters on SEO listing their sites there,

    Nothing is dangerous? How naive are you? If the person you link to decides to become a "bad neighborhood" (porn, gambling, spamming affiliate programs, etc.), that will screw you over too.

    Exchanging links are weak approaches to building links. Some people will remove your link after awhile, and you end up with a link to their site without an exchange.

    Link exchange means Reciprocal link building where SITE A and B both point to each other just for increasing PR

    ONE WAY link means SITE A point to B only and B doesnt points back to A

    ONE WAY Links are helpful , Avoid Exchange or reciprocal links they are not helpful

    I think its good if you can choose who you exchange with, that way your not exchanging with a site that could devalue yours.
