    When processing link exchange.

    How to find worth of the neighboring site, depends on the page rank or some special tactics find the worth of the neighboring site.

    What do you mean?
    Optimum "links" would be niche-related, and that has authority (solid PR or good targetted traffic)

    you need to search manually your competitiors and try to find their page rank and ask for link exchange

    first check whether its in the same niche or not. than you should check the PR of the perticular page of neighbour where he is gonna put your link so you get better PR juice from it.

    it's a slow and patient process, you will also need to think about how you can get such links, offer a price? trade? or bargain another way.

    search your related site on google then visit individually to check their PR, resource page. if they meet your criteria approach them via mail or link exchange filling if they provide it on their site.

    Check their ranking by searching for your specific keywords in Google - see where their results come out on the results page. Also check their Alexa ranking but take that with a pinch-of-salt...

    You could also ask them for access to their webstats so you can check for yourself - Do they use Google Analytics? if so they could set you up a username/password :)
