Hello, I am using link exchange script and this has an entire directory of all possible categories and sub-categories. I am planning on removing many of these categories that seem irrelevant to my site’s theme. Does exchanging links with websites that have a different theme hurt the search engine ranking OR it has no effect (positive or negative) OR it some positive effect?? There so much talk about 3-way links and other new strategies. Honestly, on one of my sites, I still get traffic link exchanges done more than a year back. I would reciprocal link exchanges work. Why do the experts (people who are selling 3-way links) say they don’t? Any Suggestions?
Reciprocal links still work for me, but one-way/3way seem to work even better. I've also found off topic links to provide as much benefit to search engine ranking as on-topic links do. The main reason to stay on-theme and non-reciprocal is to "future proof" your site. Most people are predicting the rules will change as search engines get smarter, but then again, they have been saying that for years.
You can do link exchanges with non relevant website, but create for that sub domain for directory. like, if your domain is yoururl.com than make ,directory.yoururl.com or you can choose another way to get good response by yoururl.com/directory Regards, Bloomtools.
Actually it is not sure whether irrelevant sites exchange link are good or not. THree way may alway be a good way to exchange links.
