Hello there, I have been offered a link exchange with http://www.ieefirstlink.com http://www.lansingclarion.com/area.html http://www.swiftpropertyfinance.co.uk I know each of these sites offer great PR but I'm afraid that these may in some case be fake PR. Can someone with more knowledge kindly explain how to check for fake PRs and if these domains have real PR. Thanks in advance. Ryan
google "fake pr checker" or "fake page rank" and you'll find tons of tools to check btw... the first link is good, the 2nd doesn't load, and the 3rd doesn't even have PR
People run scams like this all the time. Just make sure to always check. I have had one where a guy wanted to sell me a PR 9 link but wouldn't let me see the site because it would compromise his sale. People are stupid.
All are Fake PR's. First links homepage is PR5, all internal pages are PR N/A Same for second link Third link is PR0 Notice how they were all started in late January/February 2008 - the last PR update was on January 12th-ish. These domains would have been faked at that update then wordpress quickly uploaded, I guess some guy is making money from it somehow. If in doubt - don't bother, it's as simple as that. I would be inclined to say yes, that PR is also fake. The PageRank belongs to Peutertv.nl as indicated by Google's cache.
A) Go to the domain, check Google Toolbar PR. B) Check backlinks in Yahoo/Google. C) Search for domain, view cache. D) Use PR 'fake checker' tools (not very reliable) E) Check pages other than the homepage. search google for "domainname.com" as opposed to "www.domainname.com" - this'll find sites where the domain has recently been sold Magic
