I got a new web site. and try to make a few bucks from google adsense. excited for a few days, just like most beginners made a few bucks, really happy about it. but then I found myself got lost, have no clue how to promote my site. I started to do link exchange. i only have a few hundred visitors, and no one really want to exchange links with me except those who only got less 100 visitors per day. or they let me do hte link exchange, but put my link on the so called partner page which never been visited. i gave up on hte link exchange, but probably will come back later after i got my UV. now, 95% of my traffic from backlinks, i submited my works to some related web sites, it contains a link back to my web site. It works really well. I see ppl starting web site, and try to do link exchange, i will tell u it will never work.
Does your site have PR? Most sites owner or webmasters only link exchange with sites with PR and that is relevant with them...continue improving your link popularity as it'll help you to improve your PR...submit your site to link directories...create articles then submit them to article directories...
Why don't you try to submit it to different free directories (That requires no link exchange).
