I posted an add looking for someone to help build links to a site and I have been messaged by a few different people offering directory listings to sites that require reciprocal links. I dont want links on my site but they insist they get around this some how. What my question is, is how reliable is this sort of service, is it looked down upon by search engines and do the links last? Im not sure what they do to get this done and I dont know enough about this subject to know if its good or bad. I just want to know what people who know alot about seo think. thanks
Reciprocal linking is dead, has been for years. Directories are not much better, in fact, largely useless as well. This fellow however has some good ones. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1449881 It is important to note that your demographic(assuming its your sig. link) is rough stuff. That requires a great deal of proper marketing/SEO. There is no conceivable way to do this by simply hurling a bunch of links at it. Hope that helps, Nigel
Thank you for the quick response and it clear english none the less..lol. Im very new at link building and could use alot of help. I certainly dont want to throw money away and legitimate info is always appreciated. As you said most of the link services are all to random directories that are new and all have a page rank of 0. The links would be for the site in my sig, which is just a couple of months old.
Yeah, unfortunately link exchange doesn't work anymore. The best links are one-way links of good quality. try article syndication or commenting on sites or relevant content. Those get you good one-way links that provide some good juice.
Sorry, but that is a ridiculous comment. Link exchange is like everything else in SEO, i.e just another piece of the pie. I have built numerous websites which bring in decent money purely by utilising good on page content and link exchange from high PR sites. Contrary to most peoples opinions it is possible to get higher PR sites to exchange links with you if you get creative!
