Hi. I'm getting regular requests for link exchanges, so good! One chap has completed an exchange (triangular) with me & is now asking for me to add another link to the same (his) site with a slightly different hyperlink, but same description? In return I get another link from another of his sites. So I'm getting triangular links, but being suspicious I can't help thinking he is just trying to get more links from my site all pointing to his 'main-site'? Just thought I'd ask here for advice, before going ahead...........
Are link exchanges good? I've got a lot of sites that link to my site, and I link back... but "I've heard" (that's a phrase used a lot with SEO stuff I think) that google doesn't like reciprocal links that much. Is that correct? @Paul, what are the other sites that he's going to link to you from? Are they as "good" as the site that you're link too?
Thanks. Google rates links afaik. The more ways 'in' to your site by robots the better & IF you can get high ranked sites linking to yours so much the better. Thats my amateur understanding anyway. I've looked again at the sites. Both are 0/10 homepage. Mine has 2/10 homepage, the resources pages from where I'm returning the link is 0/10. The two sites he wants me to link to are slightly different in URL one ends .com/*****.html & the other .com/xxxxx.html. However the two sites viewed side by side are the same save for two paragraphs on the home pages?
Triangular or 3 ways link exchanges are the best according to me as it looks more natural. Search Engines consider them as one way link and provides much value.
