Why don't you create a page, set it up on all teh sites (the first time around), then, have the page call on a database that all the sites share. This way, when you add/delete/edit something from the admin-panel, it is changed on that database, and therefore it is changed automatically on every page that calls that database; that is, only if i understood what you were trying to accomplish correctly. I tried something similar with wordpress and using the same articles for a couple of different sites a while ago.

    Thanks for your help

The big thing is I don't want to go in on every site add the links manually.

I want to be able to add the link once... saving time.

Also doing this for SEO... as we all know link popularity helps....The sites are on different servers so not sure if I can just do one database.

LMK on this if anyone can help....

Well in theory this would be possible, since you can connect to databases not on the server by replacing 'localhost' with the IP and port 3306. Then you would have to allow the server with the database on to accept quieries from the others IP and port 3306.

Then there are security issues, and if the database server goes down, all your links go missing.

    key things:
    1) giving access to more sites will always increase security issues, but if your sites are well programmed, then this shouldn't be an issues.

    2) the database can go down on any site regardless, this can still work as long as the host you put the database on is reliable, I've done the single database with many sites before, So i know it's possible (although i wouldn't call myself an expert in this particular process by any means).

    3) You wouldn't have to put links in all the sites one by one, just the page that links will be displayed on, then when that page asks teh central database which links to display, all the pages will get the same link since all of the pages will share the same database.

    4) You could do two things,
    i) have an admin panel, only on one site that updates the database, giving other sites on permission to view database material rather than edit it (increases security).
    or
ii) or setup an admin panel in a way that every site would get one, and regardless of which site's admin panel was used to update the database, it would have the same affect on all the sites.

Personally, i recommend a single admin panel on the same server that the database will be on, and giving all the rest of the sites just permission to view the database rather than edit/delete. (you can define priveledges when u create a db user, atleast in cPanel i know you do).

Hope this has been helpful to you. -mmkrulz
