I need an understanding of Link Directories. There's alot of people offering submissions to directories and alot of that advertisements are claim the pagerank of those directories, but its just the intitial front page that really has pagerank. So is the point of these link directories is just to have a bacclink? or Althought the inital page may be a pagerank 7 and you link is in one of the categories pages, does that still help raise pagerank even though the link is not on the intial front page?
Yeah it basically answered the questions I was having about it. I was hoping I was wrong about it but I guess now.
It's a little disconcerting when I don't see any backlinks from directories, especially when I've paid money to be listed (only on the big ones that have PR on the specific page).
PR is updated perpetually. Just because the toolbar says PR0 does not make it true. The toolbar PR gets updated Quarterly ... PR iteslf is always updating, they just keep the actual number a secret
The PR of my site really doesn't have any bearing on what YOU get.. Think of my website as an vast warehouse of websites where everyone is brought together to exchange links. The Pr of the site you link out to is what matters.
Submitting to directories is fine, just don't worry too much about it. Use roboform to speed up the process and do 10-20 every few days or so. Don't do all at once because it's boring and that looks synthetic. Dropping your links in directories is always a good way to start building link authority.
Directory does not only help to raise your PR but also help your new site get indexed and get better SEPRs. Submit to high quality directories would help your alot.
