Link Development - Which page?

    Hi everyone,

Looking for your thoughts and opinions on my setup:

I have a ton of subpages which I would eventually like to rank in google for certain keyphrases. Only a few are linkage from the homepage but the majority are accessed through a main subpage of mine which has over 100 internal links to subpages which I would to rank.

Here is an example of my setup:

    Domain: hockeycards.com
    Main Subpage: hockeycards.com/pittsburgh
    Subpage: hockeycards.com/pittsburgh/crosby cards

I would like to optimize for the subpage for the keyword "crosby cards"

I'm going to develop some links for that crosby cards page but I would like to add a bunch of links in directories and link building for the homepage along with the main subpage. I'm wondering if I should focus on getting more links on the Main Subpage so it can pass the PR value internally to the crosby cards page. Along with this, the 100 links I have on the Main Subpage will also receive some internal pr juice. Should I use this approach instead of getting links solely on the homepage?

    Thanks

That's good approach. You should give it a try. But don't compete your own pages for same keyword.

Why not link internally to the 'crosby cards' page from the main page, and further get direct outside backlinks back to the crosby cards page itself. That would do more good for you.

I wouldnt try to just focus all your efforts on the homepage, for the homepage use an more broad keyword like Hockey Cards or something.. It may be a lot of work but with all of those keywords I highly doubt there are many webpages for them, and can easily get ranked up.. Just dont expect to receive a lot of traffic for those inner pages even if you were ranked #1.

For the Home you can try with your big keywords like Hockey Cards or something like that. While for the inner or sub pages you can try these approaches, while keep in mind not to mix out with internal competition...........
