Link depth is quite important and factor and along with it the URL length too should be kept in mind. All you money making pages should not be more that 2 clicks away from the Home Page and make sure not to use lengthy URLs too. Other unimportant pages can be kept at any depth in case your website is too large to accommodate everything up to the second level. Regards Shailendra
I agree with Shailendra here. Even I consider the Link Depth should not be more than 2 clicks from the home page. If it is linked to the Home Page directly or the link depth is 1 click from Home page then its even better. But the maximum should not be more than 2 clicks from the home page.
2 clicks is a good model to follow. Don't go busting a gut to get this done though, if you get external pages linking to those pages which are deeper then the search engines will still find them and depending on the quality of the links will rank them accordingly.
