Obviously Google frown on this officially but how good are they are spotting things? I know a few sites that actively engage in this and they have excellent rankings (and have done for some time)

Buy and die... or is it buy or die... or is buy low, sell high. I'm not good at this SEO stuff. :)

i believe that with a hard work on link building we can success in the SERPS but that will need more times, buying link to increase serps ranking just one of the quickest way to get it but you need lots of money to do that :p

I totally agree with you. Since google do not like link buying/selling it is quite natural that you can get goog SERP rank without buying links.:D

Kind of answered your own question there. Just because Google says something, doesn't mean it's true. If buying links didn't work, then people would stop doing it. I've worked with a site owner who bought links and he hasn't had negative results from it yet and it's been over six months. In fact, he's sitting on the first page for dozens of keywords.

That said, you never know if they might catch and what could happen. You have to weigh the risks. Some people look at a site ban as an inevitable and just move on to the next project when it happens. Some people will lose their whole business and income from a site ban. So you have to weigh the possibility of "what if" when considering whether to buy those links or not. Would it be worth being removed from Google's index? Would you lose years worth of effort and work?

We try and buy links from individual site owners and not networks like TLA(text link ads) as those are easy to spot and google put a bulls eye on them a while back.

I wouldn't recommend it. If and when they find out, you WILL be penalized.

Incorrect. Goolge frown on link selling that manipulates the serps. They allow link buying as long as it doesn't manipulate the search results. i.e nofollow or another type of link that does not pass PR.

I believe that if you do NOT buy links, your chances are far slimmer to rank on content alone. Why? Simple. Because others do and will continue to buy links. If not in your niche, soon.

Experts reveal that you shouldn't buy or sell links....and they do it anyway.

    It's personal preference.

Same answer to every linkbuilding strategy question: Mix up your linkbuilding strategies, avoid any one practice to make up a large percentage of your backlink profile.

Bought links are going to be valuable as long as you have a decent amount of non-paid links to point to as well.

Said above "I like to contact the web site owner directly" - sounds time consuming...

Its easy to say you wouldn't recommend it, but how do you link build for a niche that nobody will give links in?

If you link buy safely, you can't get caught. By safely, I mean:

    • In content
    • In a related site
    • Without going crazy with the anchor texts
    • Without using the same anchor text on every link
