Google takes into account all links, but only shows a sample of them.

I keep reading that same explanation, but how does Goolge determine which links to show in its count?? We have in excess of 1,000, but Google is showing only a small portion of that number.

Nobody knows the algorithm behind as far as I know. Probably the most important ones. It used to by that it showed those above certaing PR, though I think I was pointed to numerous examples when it was not so.

If you want to find all the links to your web, see msn beta search.

I guess there is not a big and complex algorithm for that.

I just guess Google is dividing the results per PR basis and then showing about 10-50% out of each...

I guess it will always try to show BL from as many different sites as possible...

IMHO, G shows the most useless links that point to your site. Why? Mainly because linking structures play such an enormous role in G's algo that it wants to keep them as unique as possible. But not showing the majority of the links, G prevents your competitors from easily copying them. If you could easily copy your competitors links it would make far harder for G to distinguish between the values of the sites.

Google back links take awhile to show up. However other search engines and directories such as MSN, etc will pickup the back links faster. Just focus on getting quality links, and eventually google will pick them up. Also you may want to make sure the location where your link is placed is at least in the google index. Having your link placed on some orphan page in a link directory, is not helping you at all.

Google is slowest in showing backlinks. dejaone you are correct. Google shows randomly some portion of backlinks (10%) regardless of PR.

Just make sure the page on which your link resides is in the google index, and the page is search engine friendly. Google which eventually pick the link up.

I am not sure if it shows links randomly because every time it`s the same links in the result.

Not all backlinks are shown by Google, and they won't. Yahoo is the best place to check all your backlinks. It shows them all.

I have almost 2000 backlinks and Google shows only 33, but Yahoo shows them all.

Google updates PR daily, but not links. The toolbar PR is stale within days after the PR update. You don't know the exact PR of a page until the next PR update. Try to focus on getting quality links and the results will start showing up in no time.

On a side note, dont link to a page with PR0. The other reason why people do not link to lower PR site than them is because of a so called "PR Drain" phenomenon. Technically (if you analyse the PR algorithm written by Larry Page and Sergey Brinn) if you link to a Page which has less PR than you, then you pass on more PR than what you gain from their link. This is known as PageRank drain. However if SEO was simple mathematics and calculations, it would have been too easy to rank. I believe that the gain you get from linking to other sites is much more than not linking to sites which are below PR 4.

    Hope this helps...

linkexchange is nothing worth of your linkbuilding. if you want high quality link and rank high one way link is prefer but if you need traffic ,linkexchange is the best.
