As I am researching to rank well for the term 'starview' in the UK I notice that one of the most ranked pages in Google was a one page guide written by a user on ebay that is related to starview cable boxes. The page is here: http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Starview-Guide-All-what-you-need-to-know_W0QQugidZ10000000003868041 and the search results is available from here: http://www.google.co.uk/search?clie...l=s&hl=en&q=starview&meta=&btnG=Google+Search I notice two things after reading this guide. 1) You can write your own guide. 2) There is option to use links in the guide. eBay wants you to use internal links in the guide that you decide to write. I remember that I had an 'About Me' in eBay for about two years now and that had external links right from the beginning and these were dofollows therefore I assumed it would not be an issue if I linked to this page. Any seller on eBay can have an 'About Me' page shows up as a 'ME' next to your username, just do search on eBay how to set up. Here is what I set out to do: The type of 'guide' that I write would have to be compelling and be written in the same style you would link bait (link baiting is when you right an article/blog post that is a link magnet since the content is that good). Link bait articles work best when written in an 'How to style' or '10 things....' Since my niche was starview and it was an ebay guide and the previous guide was about cloned starview boxes it would be best for me to expand on this matter. So I could look at writing something like '10 Must Know Facts When Buying A Starview Box On Ebay'. I noticed in the other guide that starview has been mentioned 20 times in a bout 500 words, therefore I could afford the risk of also mentioning about 20 times. However I have decided to test this out using a simple write and monitor the results I get. Here is the page I wrote: http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/A-Guide-To-Set-Starview-Keys-Manually_W0QQugidZ10000000008368553 Finally I would embed the anchor text 'starview' with a backlink to my 'About Me' page which would have a link to my website or alternatively if I was selling this item on ebay then I could link to that product page which would have the anchor text embedded. This type of method is similar to what you do with hubpages, squidoo lens, etc when it comes to building links. to your success.
Good tip, I will have to try this on my ebay account. Cheers. Free backlinks are always worth a little time.
