Link Building Tips and Resources

The way I get a few links from .edu sites is by finding appropriate .edu blogs, taking the time to write a relevant, valuable comment, and add a link back to my site. (they generally don't mind a link if you're actually adding value to their blog)

It's really simple, let's say for example my site is related to investing. I would do the following search in Google:

investment blog "edu"

This brings up a whole lot of .edu blogs with posts relating to investments and investing.

The key is to take you're time and write relevant, quality posts. If you're simply spamming, it won't take long at all for your links to be removed.

not completely sure if anyone's mentioned this, but links from Myspace don't build PR just so someone doesn't read the post and think they can build PR through Myspace. They have an mps link redirect applied to all outbound links.

Myspace may be a good avenue to build site recognition for a good site, but no PR value.

 

I've went outside the traditional box for link building. I snail mail organizations and companies with link requests. It's harder to ignore tangible mail than it is to filter email.

I got a couple of referrals from Frogmeat.com recently.

It has an interesting site concept for social bookmarking. Users vote on the site, if it's bad the link gets deleted if not it gets added. So instead of DMOZ where it's all editors or digg/stumble where all votes are good it has both positive and negative votes.

That was some brilliant information which i will definately put into practise. I've already started submitting my site to as many directories as i can manage. I will be using the article submission since i do have a few bits and bobs lying on my pc that someone may want to read. All in All its a good read

dmoz accepts any site that follows their guidelines,officially.Non-officially,you will find out i suppose
