I'm not sure if this is obvious or not, but...

one good thing about prweb.com is that it's actively browsed and added to Google News - meaning your press release will be searchable within 24 hours usually.

@Pammer what can one expect for the paid ? (I assume) service of PrWeb.com ?

Anybody has a direct experience with press releases to compare to non paid article submission or other press release sites ?

What should one expect from either one ? traffic ? backlinks ?

I dislike PRWeb. I purchased a $20 (or 30, dont remember) package, and it has NO features. No linkbacks, titles, anchor text, no nothing.

Unless you are ready to spend at least $100 on a press release, I do not suggest using PRWeb. I got a giant article of content with people calling my cell phone asking about it, and no backlinks.. for $30.

I use this one (as well as about 20-30 others), it's fast to add and I always get at least one link. Hard to tell how many other links I get from it though, I alway send to a lot of sites at one time.

@Raithe I recently read somewhere that they valued highly a service with prweb that cost them $120 ? what would that service be (linkbacks, titles etc ....)

@adac are you submitting manually ? and are you writing a unique article for each submission ?

Part manual, part automatic. (warning shameless plug coming :) ) You can find most of the sites I choose to do manually on this page, http://www.topwebsitetips.com/PressReleases.aspx I also use the automatic submitter "Press Equalizer". Likewise you will find my affiliate link on that page.

I let the submitter do the majority of the sites, there are a few that I want to make sure everything is right so I manually do these myself.

If I do a good job writting the press release I will normally get 20-50 permanent links and several hundred short term ones that normally bring in a burst of traffic. I say normally because at times I don't get any where near these results, other times I do better:D

Second Question. 1 press release. Not much use in writting one for each site, the whole idea is to get as many sites as possible to use your release, therefore duplicate content is a given.

press release submission is like submitting article in article directory that has links pointing to your site below the article and the press release.

Expect that are articles are free, press releases via PRweb are not, and to get a live link its not that cheap.

I don't really consider Press releases as a very good form of link building. You do get some permanent links however most are temporary.

The best part of press releases is the quick burst of traffic. The few links that stay are sort of a side benefit.

The press release sites pretty much all give a permanent link. although some you have to pay for. Its the sites that grab your release from the press release sites and display on thier site that give the temporary links.

Sometimes some of these other sites will use press releases for content and you get some additional permanent links, but that is not too often
