An easy yet successful way to get quality one way backlinks is to use social media sites. Social media sites are in abundance on the web and they give you a great chance to include links to your site on your profile page. They make it very simple to register and begin. Thoughts from those more experienced????
Pretty typical bottom of the barrel link building tactics. Nothing to see here... Directory submissions don't do a damn thing as a general rule. There are a handful at best that may be of some use... maybe 3-4 of them. Nigel
Web directories are useless nowadays except DMoz, Yahoo Directory and some others. So just don't waste your time on them. I prefer links from social bookmarking sites. I provide lots of webmasters with social bookmarking submissions and they consider such submission to be very useful for the site. I wrote about the advantages of social bookmarks in this thread forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1749878&p=14388327#post14388327 Social media sites as Facebook, Twitter are rather useful for gaining traffic, but almost don't affect the ranking of the site in SE.
directories are old and dont add much weight to your site. its indeed better to get social media links. but its even better to get links grom within thecontent of a site. like a blog post.
I would say that social bookmarking and directories are low level links - add a few to start with but get better links from other websites (if you can) or blog posts or articles or press releases etc.
I'm afraid I can't agree with you, jj1/. Every social bookmarking submission provides my new page with more than 50 backlinks. Just imaging how many backlinks your domain will have if you bookmark all your inner pages. And in the eyes of Google it's very good when your domain has many backlinks. Google think that your domain is talked about in the Internet and that increases the trust of your site.
I agree, directory submissions are almost close to useless better spend your time creating quality articles to add more content to your site.
To OP, Did you ever tried "link bait" I guess you can write well. You can go for link bait and it is the best way to get links.
