Most linkbuilding services are simply directory and blog spam if we are honest about it. Building quality backlinks is the key - and most of the "we can do this" services simply don't deliver.

    @thefandango

    Yes i agree
    Quality is key
10 decent links are better than 5000 crappy directory links, its as simple as that.

Keep an eye on the reviews coming in my thread :)

I think big G itself is fully responsible for this craze of buying links from high PR sites.
This PR business has forced many people to just buy links from high PR sites, rather than letting the content pull in back links on its own or through interaction between like minded sites! :(

    yeh maybe

A lot of people think that they get away with buying non relevant links with PR because Google doesnt punish them.

This is true in a way, Google struggles to punish because it can never know for certain who bought the link.
What their doing more and more is looking at sites with links from relevant sites and rewarding them rather than punishing others.
This will im sure grow over time as Google looks to cut out link buying.

Im sure they must be looking at things like devaluing footer links or blogroll type links.
Think back a few years when everyone was link swapping links, then Google devalued these types of links and also links pages, we all had to adapt and im sure that what will happen again.
Things move on and change and as Google gets better and better out link building methods will also have to change to make links more natural, relevant and give added value to the reader.

yeah Quality is key, What we need is top quality links rather than spams. Why we can't select it, I think DP is enough to choose the correct stuff. :)

I saw that heading thought - o someone has got a major beef with another member about a service they bought

Yeah sort of agree with the op - quality and relevance over number of links for sure.

Like those link blaster submitter submission services and such that claim to offer 1 million backlinks for $2 LOL

I think web masters want heaps of links fast for pr increase and are time poor so they just spend cash unwisely

I couldn't have said this any better. Although I haven't purchased any link building services from DP yet, most of them are just directory submissions and blog commenting.

Quality backlinks are needed too to help improve SEO, not just low-quality backlinks like them.

Hunny, nice sales pitch there but i would like to comment on few of things you have mentioned about feeding your links in articles and requesting sites ranking 10-50 to post your article up or blogging or digging etc.

Well, i would say its a nice practice but in reality its very hard, a good seo would be one who has plenty of experience and PLENTY of links with in the blogging and social bookmarking or media networking industry, hiring such person would gurantee the success, imagine a seo who exactly knows how to get your article on top of digg and how to get top bloggers to blog about your site and what directories to submit your link into, what to edit with in your site and the list goes on. The actual problem is finding such seos as you won't find too many of them secondly they are expensive.

I would say if you really care about your site and have a big pocket then don't hesitate to spend your money on hiring a good seo.

Well..To be frank..Ive decided to concentrate more on my own projects than serve people on DP because of the large number of sub-standard dirt cheap service providers in the Service section. The problem is not exactly with do-follow blog commenting, directory submission or social bookmarking, but with the way these things are implemented here. If you are paying $10 for 100 odd comments, then do not expect exceptional results..;)..As for link baiting, content based link building takes a lot of time and from where do you get the initial push. Personally, I swear by blog commenting day in and day out as some of mine and my clients sites have hit up top 10 for keywords with search competition of over 30-40 million through well phased out commenting..

Yes i have seen blog commenting work but i have also started to notice that it is slowly starting to now work because
A- To many people sell these "do follow" lists and the get spammed to death
B More and more people are going back to no follow
C- Theres so many outgoing links on these pages now that the link juice gets passed all over the place.

Touche! As for blog commenting, it is so very crucial to have your own set of discrete websites. Anything that comes up in a list gets spammed up. Besides, having reviewed all the lists around in DP, Ive realized that a lot of them have un-moderated blogs and hence the Spam..But yes, you do have a point.

like our good moderator wisdomtool said once, "you pay for peanuts, you get monkeys."
if you need good service, you have to pay for it. you can't be expecting good service paying $1 for a squidoo lens (i saw a thread where someone is offering $1 lens creation service).
