Link building method

I have made link exchange thread in the link exchange folder here in DP.
But there are many webmaster that request me to exchange link like this method :

I give them my site "A" to exchange and they put link in the "B" site.
After that, they request me to put their site "C".

So, I think this is not reciprocal link exchange.
Someone please tell me what kind of method of this?

The power of a one-way link is more than a reciporical exchange. Just make sure it's still a fair exchange when all is said and done.

This is a three way link exchange. If they request everyone to do the same, then a link pattern is easily identified by Google's algorithm.

If I were you, I would only exchange links in the rare cases you will get traffic. Otherwise, focus on one way links to your site.

    Good luck

I highly doubt that they can sniff out a pattern. It is probably a little more simpler than that.

Generally, the three-way linking schemes are set up for the benefit of the guy making the offer in the first place. And it is not worth your time or effort.

In all the cases that I have seen, the site that will have your link is nothing but php directory script. The directory is usually not promoted or heavily linked to, therefore it is useless for link juice.

Google typically discounts those directories altogether for a variety of reasons. Like I said, quite simple.

Check and double check. Lots of scammers will put up a link then take it down in a few weeks or months.

This type of link exchange is better than A on B site, and B on A site.

    OK, Thanks all.
So, as long as they put my site in the correct category then it is no problem.

This is better than a two way link exchange, but organizing it and making sure all parties are happy with arrangement is not an easy task. I would suggest working towards more one way links.

I think that recip links are just a waste of time. If you want something good then go for one way links, period.

@ Dodger - I think that you are seriously underestimating Google. Recip links have been around for a while and Google knows what to look for.

I was referring to snowbirds claim that Google can see a pattern on three-way linking. Yes, recip linking is pretty easy to spot.

Most three way link exchanges are not very sophisticated.

For example, 10 links on site A point to page B. Then 10 links on page B point to site C. Now site C points 10 links back to site A. This is not very sophisticated at all, and once 2 links participate in this exchange the pattern develops. With just ten links, the statistical possibility of this pattern occuring naturally happens about as often as I hit the lottery (never). The only way to break this cycle is to use additional sites in the exchange network. The more sites that are added to the network, the more likely you are to receive and provide links to unrelated sites.

From what I have seen, most people joining these types of exchanges are completely blind. Meaning they have no idea that exchanging links this way is seen as a link scheme and can damage their site's ranks.

Matt Cutts has indicated previously that they can identify most three way link exchanges. That's because most three way link exchanges are setup by novices which lure more novices into this ticking timebomb. People in the know will tell you that reciprocal links provide little SEO benefit. Participating in three way link exchanges is just flirting with disaster...

Actually, I don't get the point of 3 way link exchange.
In my case now, just exchange with the same niche, that is what I know so far.
Correct me if I am mistake.

One would characterize that as typical three-way setup. And I suppose you are right that a pattern could be seen in it.

But my encounters with 3-way linking didn't conform to this pattern. Actually, they are not 3-way at all.

This is how it plays out:

    1. I link to their site.

    2. Another site (usually the cheaply setup directory) links to my site.

    3. Their site does not link to the directory site, or my site.

Who wins? Their site of course.

    I will ditto that sentiment.

Google does not approve of 3 way linking, you should be careful if you are
    going to do this.
