Link Building is important to improve Google PR of your website up to certain level, may be you can say up to Google PR 5 to 6. Above that you must look at other promotional activities (e.g. article submissions, press release, paid submission in high PR directories etc.)

 

Link building is becoming more and more popular as i see.

 

It's because link building is what make a website popular (link popularity) to search engines. having more links will (most often) make you rank higher in search engines & since search engines deliver the bigger amount of targeted traffic, building links have to be so popular.

 

Link Building is the whole essence of the game, along with quality content

As long as search engines exist, link building will never cease

that is links pointing to your site

If you want to check reciprocal links or the links you bought

you can check www.hotscripts.com where a lot of scripts are available for checking the links

But always use www.yahoo.com to check the links

 

At the present moment, links are still very important, but as search engines get smarter, I don't think they will be as important.

They will always be somewhat important as a differentiator, but as LSI develops more and more, and as search engines become able to analyze sentences, they will be able to pick out more relevant pages without relying on the number of links.

Big changes are coming as I see it. But for now, links are still what its all about.

Grow for people who provide quality content. As number of blogger increase and new site popping up everyday, you have a bigger chance to be cite, if u provide quality content

Links will always be very important. Even if they gave you know help with the engines they still will be the number one tool for surfing the web. Think about how many times you arrived at a site by following a link as opposed to finding it from a search engine. The foucus is already shifting to relevant links so links for links sake are becoming less and less meaningful.

 

Get all the links you can anywhere you can (well almost - stay away from bad neighborhoods like link farms and porn) and you will find an increase in visitors and SERPs.

Try to build thematic back links rather than simple links. It will reuslt in increase in targeted traffic in addition to SEO back link weight.
