Hey all, I've recently gotten involved in a classified ads site (Asiafieds.com) that focuses right now strictly on China classified ads and will hopefully soon expand into other countries in Asia (India, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, etc.) but I can't find a good place to develop the links for it. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to develop good PR for a classified ads site? A lot of the big hitters out there (i.e. Craigslist) already have a pretty well established fan base, but as for any other general site there doesn't seem to be many places to go for building backlinks to good, clean sites like this one (not just pages full of ads and a random classified thrown in there every now and then). Suggestions are much appreciated. Cheers
The first thing I would focus on is getting a couple of great Press Releases out there. And I say great because you don't just want to gain a few links from your Press Releases, but hopefully you'll get them picked up by some news sites/papers in Asia. Then I'd look for local blogs covering the cities/regions your site targets. Contact the blog owners and tell them about your site, and what benefits it offers people who would be reading their blog. If you're lucky you can get some of them to mention your site with a link. Commenting on blogs that cover the region is good too, but it would be optimal to get the blog owner(s) to write about your site rather than just dropping comments.
^^ great advice, better than the usual "use DO FOLLOW" commenting etc.. Youve got to ask yourself. whats good about my site? Why would people want to link to it? Offer some sort of competition in your local area, get people talking and blogging about it.
Thanks both, I've considered both, but my main concern is that a lot of the blogs that deal with the Asia area these days are either VERY opinionated one way or another OR already offer some sort of classified ads service as part of their site. Its been my experience that these people tend to not like others edging in on their space, but at the same time it does offer some big advantages over most others in the market (e.g. free posting, clean viewing, etc.). Does anyone have any experience running any internet marketing campaigns across multiple languages? It could potentially be very profitable, but at the same time any site needs to be accessible to any of those languages easily (a big challenge for most sites).
