Hi all, I would like to know whether posting about a script/program in directories are good practice to build back links? Or should not practice it?
When you say posting a script/program in directories, do you mean you're going to automate the link building process? If so, I wouldn't recommend that, unless you're more selective about which directories you target. Directories can be a fast and effective way to link build, but it depends on their submission policy. Basically, the directory has to prove to Google that they are enforcing editorial judgement on the links being submitted. If you can simply pay money to a directory in return for posting the link, it won't be valuable to search engines. Directories like Starting Point and Business.com are valuable for link building because payment doesn't guarantee they'll post your link - they have to approve its quality first. Some directories have similarly trustworthy editorial policies, but don't charge. In a nutshell, make sure the directories you use for link building have proper editorial policies. I hope that helps!
Directories are considered as spam. BUT not all directories. if you consider working with top 200 directories, then its a good link building practice. If you start working with spam directories, you can find tons of spam directories online... like phpld directories..etc which affects your site for sure.
