not sure if this goes to link building, but i think its of SEO. anyway... do u guys build backlinks for ur index page or for the major sections of ur site? i am just starting out, so should i concentrate on building many backlinks on my index first (ard 20?), or spread over the site. since my site (health session) is highly compeititive, its kinda hard to get good SERP. i am actually banking on the smaller sections that are more niche and less compeititive. so which should i go for? links to index or targeted pages. also, is there any advantage a index page has over a webpage. for example: someone search 'toys' example-toys.com has 'toys' as keyword, but kids-example.com/toys.html is better onpage optimised, lesser backlinks but more related ones. so is the index having any advantage over the webpage since its the homepage?
If your index page is too broad and whose target keywords are too competitive, you'd want to concentrate on inside pages that have more niche topics and are less competitive yet give you more opportunity to rank better.
don't bring all the links to your homepage. It will effect your deep link ratio. 40% link should come to your homepage. 60% link should come to other internal pages.
Yes, I agree concentrate on getting rank for your inner page. Get quality backlinks for your targeted page and also to your index page.
deep link ratio? wats that? and thx for all the advice. think my SEO campaign is alot clearer now. gotta add lots more content first before i start to increase links.
I'd suggest go for niche keywords which are not so competitive as once you get noticed on these keywords, people will automatically remember your site. They will visit you directly. Also as you gain rankings and traffic, you can slowly work towards targetting competitive keywords in your link campaign.
yeah put on some good content which has a relative amount of keywords in it which will help your site when its crawled by the spiders and do some active link building for your homepage specially.
More generic kws in home page, and more long-tail in inner pages. Gain links for inner pages and your rankings for more generic kws will grow too.
To get into the top SERP, it still depends on your main keyword. Building links help you make your site popular, in SEs or in other sites. If you want to build links in targeted pages, there are directories allowing inner pages to be submitted or if you want, simply put your inner page link in your forum signatures.
Concentrate on your index page and one or two fully content loaded (optimized content) page. And try to find out links for the inner page from the Article. Keep 2 links on the author bio section. One for index page and one for the inner page. wish u all the best. Thanks w.s
consider also that if you can get more than one page on the first google page it means less pages of your competitors
wow, plenty of gd advice here. luckily, i have a recommended articles section ,its actually for placing some keywords. most of my content changes (new articles, news headlines), hence, it is hard to place keywords in them. guess i got a long way to go.
I think this is good advice, not sure on the exact ratio to shoot for, but spreading your links out is always a good idea. If you opt for article marketing (which I would recommend) as part of your link building campaign, you can generally put in 2 links in the authors box. I usually have one of those links pointing to my homepage and the other pointing to a "deep link" (internal page). Then the next time I do another article I point one link to the homepage and the second to a different internal page.
i was thinking of putting my articles out for others to use too, but wait till my site is more establish (cached by google, decent ranking). i dun want google to think mine is the duplicated content. unless they have a date checker or something like tt.
i would concentrate on the interior pages that are more targeted to specific products/services. if you can drive traffic from a particular keyword to a page that can generate a sale or has some sort of contact details/call to action on the page then you are more likely to gain revenue from this than driving traffic to your homepage where there might not be any areas for customers to purchase. also if you have 2, 3 or 4 keyphrases per interior page you are broadening your possibilities in terms of the traffic you attract. your net is being flung further if you like.
