Link Building for site with a splash page

Hi, I thought I had this covered but I am a little confused.

I have a site www.mysite.com which has a flash splash screen and the home page is www.mysite.com/home.html. Should I do the link building for www.mysite.com or www.mysite.com/home.html. www.mysite.com essentially does not have any content! So I thought www.mysite.com/home.html would make sense. Gurus please help.

A similar scenario: Site www.mysite.com has a re-direct to www.mysite.net. The content lies on www.mysite.net. To which site URL should I do link building. Since all the content and onpage seo is done on www.mysite.net, my feeling is www.mysite.net.

    Please help.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

you should build links to both links,
make sure you have plenty of links on your flash page to other parts of your site as well.

personally, I would scrap the splash page. If it is a client who is inssiting, explain the negatives and explain very little positives. While they think the splash page may look neat, unique, whatever, it will not help sales, and will not impress buyers.

They can turn away buyers, and as you can see make SEO more complicated. All this without a positive, scrap it. Only time nice artsy flash splash pages are good are on web design, etc sites where someone is showcasing their work, other then that imo it frustrates end-users and distracts buyers, from buying.

Shit, it has been proven by traffic logs, even extra steps in the checkout process can turn away buyers, these are people who already had the stuff in their shopping cart!! If you can turn them away at that point, like being in line with the items in hand in a store, then the last thing u want to do is have extra clutter like a splash page before you even get into the site.

But as to your question, you would want to build link to both pages, and build links to your other important inner link pages aswell.

I second dropping the flash splash page. It is sooo '90's. :) Most users skip it and go to the second page anyhow. Much better to have a flash element on the home page.

Third to drop the splash page - i had them for ages, and to be honest a complete waste of time for the user / client - nice for branding and making you feel cool and excellent and the biggest and the best ... the clients the most important part to your website, make it so damn easy for them to buy/see read whatever you are selling / promoting.

    :)
