Link building for my new site

Hi Everyone I recently started up a new website, still making upgrades to it though but it's pretty much ready. I am now looking into the promotion and seo side of things. I keep reading about how I should have 1 one links from top ranked sites to mine. Question I have is how do I do this genuinley without going through a link farm? (which I want to avoid). My site has a page rank of 0 so how do I get these bigger sites to link back to me? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Regards, Matt

As your site is very new so you have to build links slowly, don't go for buying links on high pr sites, it is helpful but it is for large website, established website, for small or new website, you have to build link slowly, you have to build trust first...
