I have 2 new websites and I have found that the hardest part is probably a link building campain. SO here are a few questions: -- What sould I do to get a large # of links?. I have submited to a few directories but It seems like its too time consuming to get a large # of links. -- The link keyword should be all the same or should I have a number of diferent text links? -- Is there some way to automatically submith a link (with the link text I want) to a large # of places? -- How can I identify those "Bad neighborhoods" ? -- Whats a good link tracking and reciprocal link software for free? Paid? -- Any other link building advice will be helpfull. thanks
Building back links is an inportant part of getting ranked. I spend some time each day submitting. I have a custom made spread sheet I use to keep track of my links and submissions. I know it sounds time consuming but I have seen success from this method.
building links is essential. it is a grueling task but just keep at it and you will see the results... keep in mind to initially target your main anchor text and then eventually as you start to get a lot swap to your secondary keywords/phrases. in regards to the link trackers you can find some free ones through any script directory. you might also be able to pay someone to submit your site to alot of directories for cheap or alternative pay to join a link building network. good luck
Avoiding "Bad neighborhoods" is not that hard. just avoid linking to sites that you wouldnt wont connected with your own. and make sure all sites have PR, PR0 is ok for new sites but watch out for grayed out Pr bars.
I have found and submited my site to some directories, I'm thinking of building a site/ list of the submit url of directories and other places. I have seen a lot banner / link building sites and offers but some look too true to be good, besides the coop network is there any other that someone can recoment? Is setting up and running a directory or 2 myself a good idea for link building?
The co-op network is a good place to start, like some of the others have suggested. I know that a lot of our members have benefited from the co-op. Having said that, I did take co-op ads off my site for a couple of reasons: The ads are unrelated and can put some visitors off and secondly, the co-op is "arguably" a link farm and Google could essentially at some stage ban all sites using it. As far as getting link exchanges is concerned, make sure you have a links page or links directory and ensure that all visitors can clearly see that you do exchange links. You will get the odd request through your site for link exchanges and trust me, they all help! Try focussing on a 3-5 word keyphrase that contains the main keywords that you would like to target. Ex: I use "New Zealand Photography - NZ Images" for my site. If you ever get a site-wide link or multiple links from the domain name, use different keypharases for different links. Link Development can be a bit daunting, so don't try to do it all in one day. Spend an hour a day exchanging links and keep a target of 5 links a day. That's nearly 2,000 BLs in one year. They will take you a long way. And, it will get easier once your site is ranked and the google toolbar is updated and shows a PR for your site (As more people would be ready to swap links with you). There are a lot of automatic submission sites out there. Feel free to use them, but I haven't had much luck with them so far. I have even used paid submission sites for my work websites and they don't seem to do much. They promise thousands of submissions, but confirm 20 odd submissions. I would recommend doing it yourself. Might take time, but you will be able to avoid dodgy sites. Submit to major directories and search engines: Yahoo, Yahoo directory, Google directory, DMOZ et al. Submit a press release. Ex: to http://www.prweb.com. These releases are grabbed by dozens of other sites and they will all link back to your site. Or, submit an article to http://www.articlecity.com and your article will be published on their site as well as heaps of others. For tracking reciprocal links, you could use software available online, but I would recommend managing it on your own. Just use your own script to check for back-links. There is one available on this thread. Finally, if you are ready to spend some money on link building, you should see the Buy, Sell or Trade category on this site. There are a lot of people offering links on medium/high PR sites for a fee. A good price IMO would be around $50-$60 for a permanent PR5 link or a PR6 home page link for one year. Hope this helps! william I don't think the google toolbar "grays out" anymore for banned sites. Can anyone else confirm this?
Google for "linkman" - it's a good reciprocal link exchange script. After some minor changes it could be a nice tool for tracking the exchanges.
There are lot sof different ways to build links. With all the different filters Google has, I like to play it safe and use forums to find good places to get links. I do it all manually with no link building scripts or joining and networks. I have seen success with the work I have done and I am sure that my inbound links will not be ones to get me any penalties or even banned in Google.
I suggest paying someone else. For $1 - $2 / PR3+ link you can get firms out of India that will get all the links you need.
ya web gazelle... pls do tell... i might be interested if reasonable and the links are from quality sites with a min pr.. ;-)
