I'm in the process of looking at scholarships for school and came up with a great idea. Some of these sites I think are already doing it but it could be very good for all types of sites. Basically sponsor a scholarship, just a few hundred dollars for a good cause. Call it X.com's scholarship, in the requirements tell them they have to do whatever and have a 3.0 gpa. To register go to http://yourwebaddress.com/ . Bingo, submit your scholarship to fastweb.com and a few other databases and watch it get picked up by thousands of web sites that offer lists of scholarships. Tons of incoming links and increased traffic too. Its a win-win-win, you look good by offering a yearly scholarship good press, you get incoming links year after year, and its about the same price as buying text links off sites. Now here's the deal, if any of you guys start offering scholarships, you've got to hook me up.
Perfect example anycollege"."net Remove the " ". Google it, a ton of links, and alot from .us and .edu 's.
I'm trying to find a scholarship . If I have any new projects that kind of target older teens, I may give this a shot. I'd suppose many of them would stop by and click and ad too.
I'm curious is anyone planning on trying this? I wish I had a website that targeted 17-22 year old range so I could get double the benefit out of this.
How much would you need to offer? Is there anything else you need to do other than hand over the cash?
Definitely a good idea. I will have to read more into this and possibly give it a try. Of course I would try probably $500 first, then move up if a success.
You can also run small contest like giving away a laptop or $500 or something at various college and scholarship forums. One of them is studentawards.com (for Canadians), there's a whole bunch of small contests and such going on there...if you have the money..it can generate tons of links but of course, make sure your market is related.
seems an interesting idea. I wonder if could be extended a little? eg. We offer two scholarships of $500 a year, to be eligable you need to be a junior at a USA university. The award of the scholarship will be based upon a 500 word essay you submit. As an extra incentive all essays, winners and losers, will be published on our website!
Do you have a list of scholarship databases? I am actually doing some work with a company that just announced about $25,000 in scholarships
