Can someone possible tell me how to achieve this effect? I really like how the line fades into the background and I can kinda do that with a gradient. However, my problem is with the drop shadow... it drops a shadow off the whole line rather than fades when I do it.

I uploaded a photo to show you what I mean.

    Please help.

    Thanks!

u make a duplicate layer, remove the styles fx from the original, set the fill to 0% in the duplicate then put the dupliacte in a folder and apply a gradient mask to the folder.

it took me a while to work that out, but thast how i do it, im sure there may be an easirer way but i couldd find it.

the key is putting the layer in a folder. then applying a gradient mask to the folder. only the duplicate goes in the folder. everything in the folder will be masked, including the drop shadow.

the 0% fill means only the fx is shown. the original layer under will show through. if u dont need then original layer to be without a grandient mask then u dont need to make a duplicate.

just put the layer in a folder and apply a mask to the folder. now everthing in the folder will be masked.
