Exactly my point while I posted this.

If you have a paid directory with a casino/gambling category I would highly suggest deleting it now.

By the way my account is restored. Only took 1 day to do. But I dont think they are playing around anymore.

If you look at their prohibited list it's a lot more than just Gambling. There are also "adult" "tobacco" and 40 other prohibited categories. However, their TOS says nothing about LINKING to a website.

Plus, why should the person with the "illegal" website have a PayPay in the first place to pay you?

To get back in you have to do this:

Call them at the phone number they give. Or just remove the offending material and reply to their web phone. I used the phone too, just because I didn't want to wait.

As long as you "do as they say", you will get back in. But after using them for 4 years and never having an issue, it felt like a kick in the face.

If you receive gambling by 2CO or Money Brokers do you still have to remove the listings!

Internet is full of corporations doing gambling business with paypal, only the small fish get busted as usual.

Top players like Alive and Aviva also have gambling sites listed let’s see how it goes for them.

It is obviously quite plain to see that Paypal does not wish to associate itself with gambling.

This is not the image they want created of their brand.

Removal of the category will not do it, as a matter of fact PayPal is interpreting there rules to suit them. Before I go into my story of today, does PayPal advertising on any search engines?

Today I find my paypal account limited and then said they cannot overturn limitations. In November I created a shopping mall http://www.shopjmw.com which has a wine and tobacco page, not whiskey, cigarettes or anything like that and definitely nothing illegal.

Before this gets confusing, I used paypal to collect money on my business sites (jmw.net, incense4u.com, crossroadscorner.com and morningmistform.com which sell incense, bath salts, fish food and things like that. In the shopping mall shopjmw.com I had a banner to allow people to sign up for a paypal account, nothing more. My business does not collect money from any sale that people find through shopjmw.com.

Paypal claims I violated there Acceptable Use Agreement states:
    Prohibited Activities
You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:
    4. violate applicable laws or industry regulations regarding the sale of (a) tobacco products, or (b) prescription drugs and devices

And there User Agreement which says:
10.5 Acceptable Use Policy Violation - User Fines. If you violate the Acceptable Use Policy as set forth below in clauses (a), (b), (c), or (d) ....
    d. Using the Service to receive payments for tobacco products in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

I talked with paypal and I removed the paypal banner ad but I received and email where they cannot overturn limitations.

They seemed to agree I was not accepting payment but said it was due to there logo was on the site. Where is the violation of agreement? 1. I did not violate any law or industry regulations regarding the sale of (a) tobacco products. I didn't even collect any money or could I have. The seller would have to have done such.
    2. How could I violated the User Agreement if I did not even attempt to receive payment or the seller doesn't either.
    3. I removed PayPal logo which was for people to sign up for Paypal and I received payment for people signing up, an affiliate agreement as everyone on the site is the same. If someone would have talked with me I would have removed it without issue as I did to start with.

I am at a loss at why this was done without even a notice and that the agreement does not cover this issue. Everyone just seems to support the other one when talking w/costomer service.

I have paypal limit my account for having casinos listed on two of my directories last week.I made them inactive and just applied for a 2co account .Took 5 days to get $19,000 released from my account but I did inform them that i am going to still deal with casinos on my directories but will accept payment another way.The bidding directories seem to be a hit with casinos and too much money to lose ,if i have to choose casinos over paypal then i know who will win.

So for directory owners who do wish to accept gaming portal site reviews and such, what is the best alternative to PayPal for collecting site review payments? Anybody have suggestions please?

I was not accepting payments for anything on shopjmw.com, I only had a banner to have people sign up for Paypal and they will not reopen it. I would not worry but my busisness sells and was accepting PayPal, the loss of income is what is hurting me. I removed the banner and told PayPal I would take them off the entire site but that didn't work.

I just got off the phone with PayPal and they are not going to open my account. Using Paypal can apparently can be detrimental to your income. I have removed there banner from shopjmw.com and they said it doesn't matter, they fell I put PayPal at risk.

Search the internet for risky things with paypal and see how many pages they pay for listings and they say I was wrong.

"It is obviously quite plain to see that Paypal does not wish to associate itself with gambling.

Paypal was sued awhile back for allowing users to fund online gambling sites. That is why they don't want to be associated with gambling. It has nothing to do with the "image they want created of their brand." If they weren't sued they'd still be happily accepting gambling transactions.

2co works or else having your own merchant account .we are geared to mass submissions from seo companies so all our listings are done manually by us and we do all the writing involved then invoice the client.Even if the client didnt pay for casino links with paypal they can still block you just for having the casino plus paypal option there. We are still trying to decide how to handle this.

Well after many phone calls and hours of talking I got my account back up and running. I removed all references to PayPal off ShopJMW.com and there seems to be no problem now. I still stand to the belief that I was never in violation of there policy.

I think the moral of the story, no more gambling sites into a directory to avoid this situation. Get rid of that site out from your directory. I agree with aaron nimocks.
