Limit the number of featured links in a category?

    Hi,
    i am a newbie at directories, so i think i should ask this

    i see there is a setting in phpLD, to limit the number of featured in each category.

    i wanted to know how many people use it, and if yes what is the best limit to put there?

    I set mine at 5 or 6 I believe for each category with featured also able to go into a top category

    It's not really the number of featured ads that matters. It's the total number of listings on each page that matters.

    IMO, the best limit is between 5 and 10.

    The way I look at it, if 20 people want sponsored listing then so be it; the whole front page will be taken by sponsors. Why not? I would never allow more sponsor spots than the first page holds however.

    think everyone sets a limit, its just a matter of preference on the number used. However, the idea is to keep it as low as you are comfortable with.

    Featured listings should be Kept to a minimum as this is supposed to be the premium service of a directory and therefore command top money.

    I would go for 3 to 5 featured listings on any page as they will take up the position of being seen in the browser when landing on any page.

    This is what submitters pay for - to be seen.
